If you search for After You on Instagram or Tiktok, chances are you'll come across images of their gorgeous kakigori, aka Japanese shaved ice bowls. They are well known for these aesthetic and delicious desserts and I immediately bookmarked it when a friend excitedly recommended it to me. And now that I've been, it's easy to see why it's so popular and here I am, recommending it to you for your next trip to Bangkok. P.s. they have various locations across the city.
We wanted to try a few so went for the Thai Tea Kakigori, the Milo Volcano Kakigori and the Strawberry Cheesecake Kakigori. You order at the counter and then they bring it to your table so we did just that and went to await our order patiently.
As we waited, we couldn't help but tuck into the two bits we'd picked up in the meantime - the Palm Sugar Butter Bun, and the Sihbuya Honey Toast. I know, we really went all out that day! The bun was suuuuper soft and squishy and had a slightly sweetness from the palm sugar, but not enough for any part of it to become sickening. The honey toast was also delightful - it was crunchy on the outside but again soft and fluffy in the centre. It paired really nicely with the soft ice cream that gradually melted as it sat on top of the warm toast. Both I'd highly recommend and both I'd definitely order again next time.
Once we were done with our "starter" desserts, the three kakigoris arrived, let me tell you... they looked AMAZING!!!! And it was mandatory at that point that a whole photoshoot had to be done to give full appreciation of the works of art they truly were.
I also went for a yuzu americano with fizzy water which was the perfect pairing. Really light and refreshing, and slightly bitter which I personally felt went really well with all the desserts we had ordered.
