This is possibly one of my favourite restaurants in London. Yes I know it's a big statement but every single time I've visited this place, I've totally loved the food.

Fatt Pundit specialises in Indo-Chinese food, which is a type of Indian cuisine that originated from Kolkata, after the migration of Hakka Chinese immigrants and their settlement in the Eastern part of India. Thanks to the fusion of both Indian and Chinese culture and cuisines, you can find delicious dishes here with flavours such as sweet chilli, and a relative of dumplings - the momo.

What we had

Crackling spinach and momo

One of my favourite dishes here is the CRACKLING SPINACH, made with sweet yogurt, date & plum sauce, pomegranate. It's a must order for any visit. The combination of crispy texture from the spinahce with the sweet yogurt and sauce is aboslutely delightful. I could yet buckets of spinach like that. 10/10

Another one of my favourite starters is the STICKY SESAME VEGETABLES, which is essentially crispy veg fritters coated in this sticky ginger glaze. Sounds basic but my god, this dish is SO moreish and packed full of flavours and textures, despite the simplicity of it. No wonder the waiter immediately jumped at mentioning it when I asked him for his recommendations the first time I ever visited this place. 10/10

Final starter that I really enjoy each time I come is the crispy okra. Okra is usually the soft and squishy vegetable in dishes so this crunchy texture is a great change, and paired really nicely with the salt and pepper seasoning. 8/10

Basically, if by now you've not realised, this place is an absolute heaven for veggies as many of their best dishes are the vegetarian ones. That being said, let's talk a bit about some of their non-vegetarian items on the menu...Starting with my favourite main here - the lamb chop. Nearly every table will order one of these and it's easy to see why. The meat is seasoned with a stone flower masala rub (not exactly sure what it means with the stone flower though haha!) but can confirm the flavours are perfect, especially with a minty sauce on the side. 9/10

Also high up on my recommended dishes to order is the MALABAR MONKFISH CURRY, which features a chunky piece of grilled, monkfish in a rich saffron butter and coconutty sauce. SO good with the burnt ginger rice that you must also order for accompaniment. 8/10

As for dessert, you must finish on the one and only - SIZZLING BROWNIE. It is literally what the name describes, a classic brownie with a generous scoop of ice cream on top, arriving on a hot plate and doused in a rice chocolatey sauce. This act of pouring the sauce when your dessert arrives at the table results in loud tantalising sizzles, a true spectacle. What you're left with is the delicious smell of sweet chocolate. The hot and cold combo is one of my favourites and again, you've guessed it, you definitely have to order this. 8/10
