This place has been around for the longest time and I've been coming here since I was in my teens. Back in those days I'd hang around Central London with little to no money and this spot was one of my faves due to the reliable good food and cheap prices.
Known for their signature hand pulled Lanzhou style noodles, this place is often filled with Asian diners in their small and narrow shop front.
On first look, it might look a little off-putting due to the array of Chinese takeaway selection at the door, but push past that and you'll see a skilled Chinese chef pulling some fresh noodles right in front of you. That is what you're there for. The Lanzhou lamian.
What I always order is the braised beef soup noodles. The beef chunks are tender and the soup is flavourful, and most importantly, the noodles are long and chewy with the perfect texture. You'll often find a huge pot of chilli oil on their tables and you should definitely not be shy when it comes to adding extra seasoning to your bowls of noodle soup. You'll find that it rewards you with a deliciously spicy bowl of warming goodness - perfect for those cold and dreary London days.
Best part of all is that this place is also open till 4am Fridays and Saturdays. A dream for late night revellers, if you ask me. Step aside, nugs and kebabs, hand pulled noodles with braised beef is where it's at, especially at 3am on a Saturday morning after a crazy round of dancing in Central London.
Your hangover will thank you the next day.
