9 Things To Do in Valencia: Bike Tours, Tapas, and Beach Bliss

I definitely didn't expect to like Valencia so much when we first booked for this long weekend trip. It's one of those cities that instantly pulls you in with its sunny vibes, super friendly locals, and mouthwatering food. We spent four days wandering and biking through the streets, cruising through parks, and chilling on the beach with waves in the background. The tapas? Absolutely amazing, and the paella was on another level. We wandered around the colourful Barrio del Carmen, checked out the futuristic City of Arts & Sciences, and topped it all off with churros and horchata by the beach. Every moment had us falling more in love with the place, and by the end, we were already planning our next trip back.

1. Exploring Valencia by Bike

Renting bikes was hands down the best decision we made. Valencia is super bike-friendly, and the Jardí del Túria (basically a giant, gorgeous park) was our go-to route. We rode through the city, soaking up the sun and the cool atmosphere – it was the perfect way to get around.

2. Tapas Heaven: Every Bite a Winner

If you love food, Valencia is where it’s at. Tapas spots are everywhere, and each one is better than the last. From juicy jamón to garlic shrimp that’ll make you swoon, we ate our way through the city. Our fave find? A cozy spot called @alenarbodegamediterranea. Let’s just say, Valencia knows how to do food right.

3. Central Market: A Feast for the Senses

Want to dive into local life? Head to the Central Market. It’s buzzing with fresh fruit, veggies, spices, and more jamón than you can imagine. Whether you're picking up picnic supplies or just wandering around, it’s a foodie’s dream.

4. Beach Days: Sun, Sand, and Chill Vibes

Valencia’s beaches are the place to be. Think soft golden sand, endless sunshine, and the sound of waves crashing in the background. We spent hours soaking it all in, then grabbed drinks at Marina Beach Club – did you even go on holiday if you didn't take a few pics on the beach?!

5. Churros & Horchata: The Perfect Snack Combo

Churros are a must here, especially when you dip them in horchata, a sweet, refreshing drink made from tiger nuts. Want to level up your snack game? Try a farton (haha yes the name is funny, but trust me, it’s good) with your horchata. It's the ultimate post-beach treat.

6. Drinks and Paella: Valencia’s Best Combo

Valencia knows how to do drinks too – wine, beer, sangria, you name it. And, of course, paella is king here. We had a classic seafood paella at Yuso, and the squid ink version at Canela was seriously next level. You can’t leave without trying it!

7. Barrio del Carmen: The Coolest Place to Get Lost

Barrio del Carmen is one of those places where you just want to wander. Its colourful streets, quirky shops, and hidden squares make it a total adventure. Getting lost here is all part of the fun – plus, it’s so Insta-worthy.

8. City of Arts & Sciences: Sci-Fi Vibes

This spot is mind-blowing. The futuristic design and crazy cool buildings feel like you’ve landed in a sci-fi movie. We spent hours here, just wandering around and taking it all in. Definitely one of those “wow” moments of the trip.

9. Just say hi!

Never underestimate the power of a friendly "Hola!" The locals in Valencia are some of the warmest, nicest people ever. Their kindness made the trip even more special.
