Best Ever Air Fryer Potatoes

This magical kitchen gadget can transform humble potatoes into a side dish superstar. These air fryer potatoes are guaranteed to become your new snack. Packed with flavour and perfectly crisp on the outside, they're the ultimate comfort food and perfect for entertaining and snacking on. They're the perfect accompaniment to any main course, from succulent roast chicken to juicy grilled burgers. Plus, they're incredibly versatile – add your favourite herbs and spices for a flavour explosion, or keep it simple with just a sprinkle of salt.

The secret to their success? Get yourself some starchy Maris Piper potatoes and a do a simple drying step. Let's begin!

Ingredients

  • 4-5 Maris Piper potatoes, or another starchy potato of choice (use a few more if you're feeling peckish!)
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried rosemary (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel your Maris Pipers – these beauties are known for their high starch content, perfect for achieving maximum crispness.  Chop the potatoes into even bite-sized cubes for consistent cooking.
  2. Rinse the potato cubes in cold water to remove excess surface starch. This helps them crisp up beautifully. Drain them thoroughly and pat them dry with a clean tea towel.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the dried potato cubes with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and dried rosemary (if using). Make sure everything is evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 205°C/400°F. Gently tip the seasoned potatoes into the air fryer basket, making sure they aren't crammed in – overcrowding prevents even crisping. Air fry for 20 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and delightfully crispy on the outside.
  5. Plate your golden crispy potatoes in a serving bowl and garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a touch of colour. Enjoy these air fryer potatoes on their own or with some mayonnaise, or your favourite dipping sauce – they're guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser!
